WHEREAS there is a proliferation of football games played on Thursdays in the SEC; and
WHEREAS television is a driving force in the scheduling of football games on Thursdays; and
WHEREAS the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus cannot accommodate parking for football games on days when classes are in schedule and faculty, staff, and students must be on campus; and
WHEREAS to comply with NCAA regulations, the University must demonstrate that the mission and goals of athletics programs relate clearly to the mission and goals of the institution; and
WHEREAS the cancellation of academic classes and operations of the university to accommodate the weekday football games would interfere with the mission of the university, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Athletic Director of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville will not schedule football games on Monday through Friday.
