[The following resolution was adopted by the UTK Faculty Senate on November 18, 1991.]
WHEREAS, faculty members who sit on boards and committees responsible for monitoring the activities of the intercollegiate Athletic Departments have been provided with free:
- Trips to games and tickets; and
- Food/lodging for themselves and family members on game trips;
- Gifts such as watches, rings, and clothing.
WHEREAS, accepting such gratuities may amount to a conflict of interest,
Be it hereby resolved that, the Faculty Senate publicly requests that faculty representatives to such bodies immediately cease to accept such gifts, and
Be it further resolved that, the Faculty Senate limit the terms of faculty representation to such bodies to not more than one term of three years.
