Report from the Budget Committee to the Faculty Senate
on UTK Salary Data

1. The information in the accompanying table was gleaned from a summary of current UTK salary data provided by Donald Cunningham of the Office of Institutional Research & Assessment in response to a request from the Budget Committee of the Faculty Senate.
   
   
2. The UTK salary data are for Fall 2000. Each row contains data for one faculty rank in one academic unit. Each entry in the "Number" column lists the number of faculty in that rank and unit.
   
   
3. Columns to the right of the "Median" column contain ratios of the current UTK average salary for that row's rank and unit to the corresponding averages for each of four other data groups.

   For the "UT/1999" ratio, the current UTK salary is divided by the Fall 1999 UTK salary.
   
   For the "UT/SUG" ratio, the current UTK salary is divided by the Southern University Group salary.
   
   For the "UT/THEC" ratio, the current UTK salary is divided by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission peer group salary.
   
   For the "UT/Top25" ratio, the current UTK salary is divided by the Top 25 group salary.
