MEMBERSHIP

All University of Tennessee-Knoxville faculty and staff scientists at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) are eligible for membership. The membership process involves completion of an online form (http://seerc.utk.edu/membership_form.html) that requires identification of one or more of the SEERC focus areas, a brief 1/2-page description of SEERC-related research, educational, or outreach  interests, a two page NSF style CV, and a photo.

Members can submit proposals for seed funding at anytime. The proposal must include: (i) 3-page research proposal plus references, (ii) budget and justification, (iii) complete CV including detailed information on research funding and students trained in the five years prior to the start date of the requested funding. All proposals will be reviewed by the research thrust leaders and the educational and outreach coordinator, in turn, a recommendation is made to the director who will make the final funding decisions.  The primary criteria used for proposal evaluation are research relevance to the SEERC mission, collaborative, multidisciplinary and transformative nature of the project, as well as research productivity, and funding history of the investigators.
