Description of Program: Ian draws on theories of neurocognition, logic and mathematical philosophy to model the economics of human behavior and decision making. He uses methods from mathematics, statistics and economics to compose these models.

Research Experiences or Internships: Ian spent a large portion of the Summer of 2009 at the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research at the University of Michigan where he studied applications of statistical methods in the social sciences. His primary project focuses on using the methods of experimental economics to analyze formal theories of logical operators in human reasoning. Ian has published with assorted faculty on the subjects of free logic, psychology of hitchhiking, and paraconsistency.
Part-time employment; Hobbies; Campus Clubs/Activities: Ian will be interning at the ORNL Computational Human Behavior Center Summer-Fall of 2009. He is a member of the UT Soccer Club and Knoxville Swing Dance Association.
Additional Information: Ian was the Deputy State Coordinator in Tennessee for Students for Barack Obama in 2008.
