Description of Program: The goal of my program is to provide a research-oriented curriculum rooted in organic chemistry with an emphasis in biochemistry for medicinal applications. The research is based on the synthesis and evaluation of compounds relevant to the prevention, detection, or treatment of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.

Plans after graduation (career, graduate/professional school, etc.): I hope to complete a PhD (possibly PhD/MD), hold a post-doctoral research position, and start a research group at a major research university in a field of organic chemistry.
Other Academic Interests: Public writing, philosophy and history (especially of science), environmental biology, astro- and particle physics
Study Abroad: I am hoping to research in Italy in summer 2009.
