Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act
Has been adopted by legislatures in all states.
The basic purpose of the Act is to avoid
jurisdictional competition and conflict with courts
of other states.
It is designed to promote cooperation to the end
that a custody decree is rendered in the state
that is in the best position to decide the case in
the best interests of the child.
