Annual Goals and Short-Term Objectives for Micah

Area of Need Annual Goal Benchmarks/Short-term Objectives
Psychomotor Micah will improve psychomotor skills to complete a variety of fine motor activities in the preschool classroom as measured by the short-term objectives. Micah will: 
  1. Consistently use an appropriate grasp to draw with 1) few and 2) no prompts 
  2. Consistently color within lines of a picture with 1) few and 2) no prompts 
  3. Copy a square in a variety of activities 
  4. Cut along 1) a curved line, 2) a circle, and 3) a square in various activities. 
Communication/ Social Micah will use improved communication skills to participate in play activities in the preschool setting as measured by the short-term objectives. Micah will: 
  1. Ask peers to play using their names. 
  2. Use a peer's name to initiate play ( ___ will you play with me?). 
  3. Appropriately greet peers and adults by name when they are present. 
  4. Use possessives appropriately when relating to other children's possessions (my, mine, hers, his, etc.) 
  5. Allow peers to participate in her games, pretend play activities when they approach her. 
  6. Answer simple "wh" questions in conversation (questions not related to the routine). 
  7. Use pronouns appropriately in conversations (I, he, she, him, her, my). 
  8. After completing art activities, she will show finished product to peers or adults. 
  9. Recall/tell simple details from past activities without visual cues. 
Communication/ Prevocational Micah will use improved communication and prevocational skills to participate in and complete activities in the preschool setting as measured by the short-term objectives. Micah will:
Wait for teacher directions during and activity before responding/ acting.
  1. Follow 1) one-step directions with concepts, 2) two-step directions with concepts (in front/behind, over/under, top/bottom, open/closed).
  2. Choose a free choice activity and persist with it until completion for 5-10 minutes. 
  3. Take care of personal items at school without verbal reminders.
