Undergraduate Majors

  • Kinesiology
    The Kinesiology major prepares students for a variety of careers in health-related fitness and for graduate or professional study in medicine, allied health professions (including physical therapy), and various fields within kinesiology (exercise physiology, biomechanics, sport psychology, etc.).


Recreation and Sport Management

  • Therapeutic Recreation Concentration
    A degree in Therapeutic Recreation prepares students for employment in management and leadership positions with agencies that deliver health care services.  Students are successful in securing employment in psychiatric institutions, in physical rehabilitation units, in drug and alcohol treatment centers, in community based programs, long-term care facilities, outdoor and school-based programs and children's programs.  Graduates fulfill the eligibility requirements for the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).

  • Sport Management Concentration
    Sport Management includes any combination of skills related to planning, organizing, leading, marketing, communicating, and evaluating within the context of an organization whose primary product or service is related to sport. The Sport Management program at Tennessee is dedicated to the development of a degree related to the understanding of management in a sport-related setting. Students are offered the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a career in sport management. The curriculum provides students with the opportunity to pursue a degree that combines coursework and professional experience.
