About the SAA
SAA History
The Student Alumni Associates was formed in September 1971 as the Undergraduate Alumni Council (UAC). The UAC's mission was very much the same as that of the current SAA, the formation and maintenance of a student-alumni network and the provision of service to the university and the community as needed.
Since its inception, the UAC has undergone several name changes, spurred similar organizations at other schools within the University of Tennessee system, and has increased its membership from 25 to nearly 80 undergraduate members.
Much like the University of Tennessee, SAA has grown in strength, prestige, and involvement. While major UAC activities such as Homecoming and the Alumni Network are still central to the mission of SAA, the current organization participates in many new and beneficial service activities.
The offices of the SAA are housed in the Tyson Alumni House on the campus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Tyson House has been the headquarters of SAA since the early 1980s and is the primary location for alumni and development activities at the university. Our Advisor
Without her, SAA would be in a world of trouble. She helps out with countless hours to ensure that the organization continues to run smoothly. We in SAA would like to thank her, along with many others, for all their hard work and dedication towards a worthwhile organization.
