NOTICE OF RACE

2007-2008 CYC Auxiliary Fleet Low Water Series

Organizing Authority: Concord Yacht Club Auxiliary Fleet

Rules: The regatta will be governed by the 2005-2008 Racing Rules of Sailing.

Eligibility and Entry: Each skipper shall be a current member of CYC and a current dues-paid member of the Auxiliary Fleet. There is a $15 yearly fee to join the Auxiliary Fleet. All racers/boats will be scored, but only dues-paying members will be eligible to receive prizes for finishing among the top five in the overall series. Dues can be given to Kurt Finnie or Jamie Northcutt and can be paid anytime before the current series ends. Each skipper shall perform at least one day of race committee duty during the series. All CYC members with auxiliary boats are welcome to race any race any day. Skippers must race 33% of the races or 33% of the dates to be eligible for a prize. A distance race may be counted as two races for qualification purposes only. In instances where a particular boat has more than one skipper during the series, the boat will be scored for a particular race in the name of the boat's owner (provided he is on the boat during the race) or the owner's skipper designate on the boat (in all cases, the skipper must meet the fleet eligibility requirements in order to be eligible for a prize).

Schedule: Races will be scheduled every Sunday except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and Easter weekends. A signup sheet may be available at the clubhouse until 1 p.m. on race day. No skippers meeting will be held. The warning signal for the first race, conditions permitting, will be at 1:30 p.m. Course will be designated by the day's Race Chair, either on shore or on the water. Boats may register on the water with the Race Chair until the warning signal for a particular race. It is the skipper's responsibility to properly announce to the Race Chair intention to race and to identify himself or herself and the boat type/sail# to the RC. Races shall not be started later than 4 p.m. All races will be twice around the designated course unless changed by the Race Chair. The Race Chair may shortenen races which have started or abandon races at any time if conditions dictate by using the appropriate signals.

Handicap: The handicap system is 2006 Portsmouth; Scoring Cox-Sprague.

Racing Venue: Racing will occur on Ft. Loudon Lake in the general vicinity of the Concord Yacht Club. The racing area may be extended in any direction to facilitate a longer course, i.e. a distance race.

Results/Standings: Each Sunday's results and current overall standings will be posted on the fleet's website as quickly as possible following each Sunday's races. Normally, this will be the following Monday or Tuesday. The URL is: http://web.utk.edu/~rsmithso/cycaux/08winter/08winter.htm. A link is also available off the CYC web page under the "Auxiliary Fleet" heading.

Socials: After-race socials will be announced on the Auxiliary Fleet web site. Contact Kurt Finnie with suggestions. In most cases the fleet will meet at the clubhouse. Impromptu gatherings are always acceptable.

Awards: Prizes will be determined by the fleet captain and will be given to the top five (5) skippers who meet the eligibility requirements. Awards to be presented at the 2008 CYC Racing Awards banquet.
