Psychology Undergraduate Program

General Psychology Major

(For Students who entered UT before Fall 2000)
 

 
     All students wishing to follow the Psychology Major must satisfy prerequisites of one year of a biological science (e.g. Biology 110-120), Psychology 110 with a grade of a C or better, and a GPA of at least 2.00.

Completion of this concentration requires:
1. Math 115 or Psychology 385, or Statistics 201 

2. Three courses from Psychology 300 level courses:

Psychology 300 Child Psychology 

Psychology 310 Learning and Thinking

Psychology 320 Motivation and Emotion

Psychology 330 Abnormal Psychology 

Psychology 360 Social Psychology 

Psychology 370 Ethology and Sociobiology

3. Two elective Psychology courses at the 300 level or higher.

4. Two elective psychology courses at the 400 level. Note: Only six hours of Independent Study (399, 489, 491, 492, 493) may count towards the general major.

Continuation in the general psychology concentration requires a maintenance of a 2.00 GPA. Students placed on academic review will be informed in writing that they are on probation and their records will be reviewed. Students who continue on academic review will be dropped from the major.
