Psychology Major Course Requirements

(Entered UT: 2000-2001 and 2001-2002)

 Note: If you entered UT in 2000 or 2001 you may also follow the Psychology Major effective Fall 2002 that does not require a statistics course. Here is the link for the Fall 2002 Psychology Major

Prerequisites  

·        Psychology 110 with a C or better           

 

·        1 year of a biological science (Anthropology; Biology; Physiology)     

    

·       30 or more semester hours         

  

·        Overall GPA of 2.0 or greater          

 
The Major: At least 24 hours of 200,300,400 Psychology courses  
One from among Psych 385, Math 115 or Stat 201 (If math 115 is used to satisfy the statistics requirement than 24 hours of psychology courses numbered 200 and above must be taken for the major)  

    Three from the following:

 

Psychology 210 (Biological Bases)

 

Psychology 220 (Existential/Humanistic)                      

 

Psychology 300 (Child)

 

Psychology 310 (Learning and Thinking)

 

Psychology 320 (Motivation and Emotion)

 

Psychology 330 (Abnormal)

 

Psychology 360 (Social)

 

Psychology 370 (Ethology and Sociobiology)

 

   Two additional Psychology courses at the 300 or 400 level 

 
   Two additional Psychology courses at the 400 level                  
   Additional Psychology courses                                                         

Total Psychology Hours (200,300,400 level courses at least 24 hours)
