The South Rim Drive offers seven viewpoints of Canyon de Chelly. We began our expedition of the South Rim Drive, by driving to the last viewpoint, Spider Rock Overlook, one of the most spectacular views of the canyon.
Spider Rock is a slender pinnacle that towers 800 feet above the canyon floor. The Navajo say that the Spider Woman lives at the top of it, and that it was she who taught the Navajo the art of weaving.
