Joseph: The View from Four

In the past year our picture-taking has slacked off considerably, partly because we’re so busy chasing Joseph around that we hardly have time to stop for a photo. But it’s obviously NOT because he is any less photogenic, or because we are any less smitten with him. When his first school picture came back I thought he looked like a movie star; I was stunned by how grown-up he suddenly looked. I realized that a year goes by quickly for us, but for him it’s a quarter of a lifetime, and so much happens, so many changes occur, so much growth and learning and love. Every day is a new adventure for him, and every day I feel so lucky to have him in our life.

As you can see, Joseph is growing into a busy, charming, funny child without a drop of shyness. He can be serious, but he has a wonderful sense of fun; he’s an amazing swimmer and loves to watch and ride in (and occasionally drive) the boats on the Mississippi River.
