Selections from Bede’s Ecclesiastical History and the Old English lyrics are translated and annotated by R. M. Liuzza, and will appear in a forthcoming Broadview Anthology of British Literature. Selected seventeenth-century lyrics, Milton’s “Lycidas,” and Gray’s “Elegy” are either transcribed and annotated by R. M. Liuzza or adapted from the Representative Poetry Online collection, a spectacular resource at the University of Toronto. Individual sources are indicated after the texts themselves.
