Future Residents
| All single enrolled freshmen who do not commute from the home of their parent or legal guardian are required to live in University residence halls. |

Being part of the UT residential community offers you:
- New Friends.
Important parts of your total educational experience are making new friends and participating in the vast number of activities and programs offered at UT. Just by walking down the hall, you will meet people from all over the U.S. and from around the world. You will have many opportunities to attend cultural and sporting events with other residents from your hall. Many of the friendships you make by living on campus will last a lifetime.
- Convenience.
Where else can you live where you can roll out of bed at 7:50 a.m. and still make it to an eight o’clock class? You don’t have to fight morning traffic or find a parking place. Classroom buildings, Hodges Library, the University Center, the RecComplex, and the cafeterias are within an easy walk or a short ride on the “T.”
- Housing Services.
Each residence hall room comes equipped with cable and computer connections. The maintenance staff in each building responds to your requests for service. The front desk in each residence hall is staffed 24 hours a day, with attention to your safety and security. And—your mail is delivered daily to your post office box located in the lobby of your residence hall.
- Value.
Your room rental rate is locked in for the entire school year and includes free local phone service and utilities. Residence hall fees are paid in a lump sum twice a year, so you don’t have to worry about monthly rent, utility bills, or a 12-month lease. Also, your housing rental rate is listed on your VolExpress statement and can be covered by financial aid and scholarships.
- An Advantage.
Studies of college students across the nation consistently show that students who live on campus are more involved, have higher grade point averages, are more likely to graduate than students living at home or off-campus, and are more satisfied with their overall college experience.
