Fundraising Ideas

A good place to start... Friends and Family Letters

 Individual Fundraisers

  • Put the donation website in your AIM profile (http://www.acsevents.org/relay/tn/utknoxville)
  • Have family members write letters for you (include picture of you)
  • E-mail online fundraising and ask others to forward it on to others
  • Christmas cards (include a letter)
  • Get people to donate $.25 per lap to help pay for your registration fee include return envelopes
  • Letter writing with personal pictures (in relay shirt from last year)
  • Pancake breakfast/local businesses sponsor you/10 friends 10 dollars = $100
  • Host a Christmas party while home on break and ask for voluntary donations from friends instead of bringing a gift
  • Spring clean out – Community garage sale where you charge $10 for parking space and $5 for tables, people sell whatever they want and make own profit.
  • Send emails to family and friends through the website (http://www.acsevents.org/relay/tn/utknoxville)
  • Send letters to local shops, restaurants, and sports teams, etc…(Or have your friends get the letters and bring gift certificates). Have a party at your house and have a silent and a live auction.  Have food and drink that also could be donated.  Have a goal poster hung at the event and keep it updated.  Your friends will make sure you meet your goal
  • Use your family members fundraise for you
  • Send luminaries with your letters

  • Go to a football game and collect donations there
  • Mow lawns
  • Send letters to businesses where you know someone but address it to the whole office
  • Door to door
  • Ask doctors, as well as ask them to ask their associates and reps
  • A faculty member with a long beard and said he would shave a 1/3 of it off for every $500 he raised
  • Buy a plate dinner with auction
  • Sell yourself to do chores
  • GOAL SETTING
  • Pay to touch my bald head – have a chair shave their head and have them collect from people who touch it
  • Soda can recycling
  • Sell candy at school
  • Church donations
  • Purple seed packets sales
  • Sell candles
  • Work for a week – told customer that all tips went toward ACS “Let’s tip out Cancer”
  • Penny jars
  • Clean car windows at a drive thru
  • Baby sit and have $ go to donations

Team Fundraisers

  • Sell Krispy Kremes to Fraternity houses on Saturday Mornings
  • Ask grocery stores to ask their costumers to donate a dollar to your Relay
  • Jack-o-lantern Auction
  • Ice Cream taste off- Buy scoops for $.50 and vote for the best ice cream in town
  • Pumpkin carving contest / purple pumpkin sale
  • Feast of Carlos – Christmas festival/dinner
  • Date Auction – get local businesses to donate “dates” (dinner, ice cream, movies, etc…)
  • Kissing a card contest, Mystery dinner
  • Parents weekend – sell cleaning service to parents
  • Pancake breakfast, spaghetti dinner
  • Root beer float selling
  • Car Wash
  • Giant bake sale in a common area at school
  • Community Spring clean out – sell parking spaces for $10 and invite teams and families
  • Sell Valentine’s day candy grams on campus
  • Battle of the bands – get bands to donate time and sell tickets for admission
  • Toy assembly for parents, murder mystery dinner show, singing telegrams
  • Mother’s day flowers
  • Host a party at a restaurant. Everyone pays for his or her own food.  The restaurant donates a portion of their proceeds to your group.
  • Car Bash
  • Hold a bake sale outside polls during elections time
  • Have a grill out, hot chocolate sales, karaoke – auction people to sing
  • Selling luminaries at stores, car washes, and garage sales
  • Movies under the stars.  Show popular movies for a small fee – sell popcorn, snakes, etc..
  • Allow businesses to give matching funds rather than a flat donation
  • Have a popular faculty member agree to dress like a chicken, a clown shave his or her head, if they win the most votes.  Students vote for the person they want by donating.
  • Formal Dress sale
  • Penny wars
  • Bowling over cancer – paid for an hour of bowling (the lanes were donated) and gave out door prizes and free donated food
  • Dinners
  • Have a % of restaurants profits on a certain day,  where you do the advertising
  • Dress down days
  • Party, auction – $5.00 to get in; pass around jar at party over $1,000 on a Thursday night.
  • Campout for cancer until you reach your goal
  • Purple toilet – put a purple toilet in faculty office and make them pay to remove it, get an extra donation to have it put in the next office of their choice.
  • Sell pens with “I helped kick cancer’s butt”
  • Selling snow flacks
  • Tournaments (3 on 3 basketball, bowl-a-thon)
  • Work concession stands
  • Barbeques
  • Topless carwash – advertise a “topless carwash” when boys ask for a topless carwash all but the top of the car gets washed.
  • Towns Christmas festival – made cookies and other foods.

PLEASE NOTE: Raffles are governed by very strict rules in the state of Tennessee and are therefore not allowed for Relay For Life. Also, students may not solicit donations door to door in residence halls, in accordance with HillTopics.
