S. Timothy String Traveling Fellowship Award

The Southern Association for Vascular Surgery is pleased to announce the establishment of a new $5,000 annual traveling fellowship award in memory of our past president, S. Timothy String, M.D. (1940-1997).

The S. Timothy String Traveling Fellowship Award consists of a one-year stipend of $5,000.00 to help fund travel to other vascular surgery practices for the purpose of developing skills as a clinical vascular surgeon. The award is intended to fund a clinical experience rather than a basic research project.

The Traveling Fellowship is being offered to chief residents in general surgery, fellows in approved vascular fellowships, and vascular surgeons in their first year of private or academic practice.

The Traveling Fellowship should be completed in 12 months and the recipient will be required to submit a written report for presentation at the SAVS annual meeting following completion of the fellowship. Applicants must be sponsored by a member of the SAVS. The sponsoring member is responsible for coordinating the fellowship.

Made possible by an educational grant from W.L. Gore & Associates
