Social Media as a PR Research Tool
Open to Students
Are you using StumbleUpon, Digg or other social media tools for PR research? Katie Granju, Director of Digital and Social Media for Ackerman PR and founder of the Knoxville Social Media Association is going to share some insight on how we can do that.
Prior to her role with Ackermann, Katie served as Project Manager with E.W. Scripps’ Interactive Newspaper Group, and she spent four years as Senior Online Producer with the Gannett/NBC TV affiliate in Knoxville, TN, winning numerous awards for her interactive work. Katie’s own “mommyblog” is currently listed as one of the 50 most popular parenting blogs on Facebook’s Networked Blogs platform, and she is a featured blogger atBabble.com, which was recently named by Nielsen as among the 50 most influential “momblogs” in the U.S.

PRSSA National Conference in San Diego
Get excited…the PRSSA 2009 National Conference is in San Diego this year and we want all of you to go!!!
The PRSSA 2009 National Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn San Diego on the Bay on November 6-10. The Conference is a five day professional development and networking event where students and practitioners from across the country meet to discuss the field of public relations, new trends in the industry and skill building tactics. Attendees will discover new ways to improve their Chapters, define their leadership styles and prepare for the future.
The Conference , "Creating Currents: Surfing the Waves of Change," will prepare students to dive into the dynamic profession of public relations. This Conference is structured to guide attendees through the changing currents of a culturally diverse society, the economy, technology and globalization through professional programs and by providing awareness for the transformation.
Conference highlights include: Professional Development Sessions, Resume Critiques session, Career Development Exhibition, PRSA General Sessions, interactive panels, evening socials, Chapter Development Sessions, Officer Roundtables, networking opportunities and much more!

If you sign up BEFORE May 31st then it's only $275 for all 5 days! If you sign up AFTER May 31st then it will be $280. We will be staying at the Holiday Inn San Diego on the Bay (where the conference will be held) and if we have 4 people per room then it'll only be $60 PER night! What's even better is that we have already started fundraising for the event and plan to do oh so much more!
