Tennessee Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators

________

I am a mathematics teacher educator in the College of Education, Health, & Human Sciences at the University of Tennessee (Vitae)
  • I have taught mathematics at a junior high school, high school, community college, and a university.
  • I currently teach mathematics methods courses, graduate courses in mathematics education, and supervise the internship experiences of the Holmes model students. (See UT Math Ed page for program details.)
  • I sponsor the Council of Teachers of Mathematics at UT, a student group dedicated to becoming mathematics teachers K-12.
  • My particular research interests generally revolve around teacher education, including:
    • The Professional Habits of Mathematics Teachers - including collegial interaction, participation in professional groups, and other habits that lead to professional growth.
    • The Pedagogical Preparation of Mathematics Teachers - especially via mathematics methods courses.

In 2006-2007, I was the chair of the Editorial Panel of Teaching Children Mathematics, a publication of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. I was a member of the the ediorial panel for the two preceding years as well.

In 2003-2005 I was the Editor of AMTE Connections ,a publication of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators.
