The Pi Kappa Phi
Fraternity is built on the love and dedication of thousands of men who,
since 1904, have found brotherhood through the pursuit of scholarship,
leadership, service, and social experiences. The decision you've made to
join our fraternity and become an associate member is one of great value.
It will add a new aspect to your life that is filled with monumental rewards
and opportunities. You will learn what makes a fraternity successful and
what you can do to help this fraternity strive for excellence as we head
towards the future of Pi Kappa Phi. The
brothers here challenge to personal make the most of this opportunity to
better yourself and to make the Alpha Sigma Chapter a better fraternity for
those that will make the journey after you.
As an associate member, Pi Kappa Phi ask you to reach your
potential and to make a commitment. We cannot guarantee that Pi Kappa Phi
is for every man, but there is a place for the man who is willing to work
for the betterment of himself, his friends, his college, and his community.
The brothers of Pi Kappa Phi want six things from you as an associate
member, and that is, Be Yourself,
Be a Friend, Act Responsibly, Be Enthusiastic,
Learn Pi Kappa Phi, and Fill a Role. The
brothers will strive to help you attain these goals through the pledge
program.
The brothers' goals for the pledge program are
designed to develop you into a better man who will be a part of the chapter
in the years to come. We want to educate you on the rights and
responsibilities of membership. We want to instill in you a thorough
knowledge of our college, fraternities in general, our national fraternity,
and our local chapter. We want to introduce you to the various programs and
policies of the national fraternity. We want to allow associate members and
brothers to build friendships that will last a lifetime. We want to educate
you in the areas that are of a special concern of our fraternity such as,
Rush and PUSH. We also want to help you in personal areas such as, career
planning, scholarship, and leadership skills. We want to encourage you to
get involved and participate in activities such as intramural sports,
committees, ACE events, and campus groups. We want to instill an attitude
towards excellence and self-discipline that will benefit you for the
entirety of your life.
The brothers especially want to cultivate a
pride in the fraternity and our chapter and to facilitate being able to work
together through the pledge program. Associate members are expected to plan
and execute a Rush event, a PUSH event, and a house improvement project.
Remember to keep a close watch on your conduct, because you are a
representative of this fraternity and your actions should reflect the
positive characteristics of a brother of Pi Kappa Phi. Most of all the
brothers want and expect you to have some fun. The brothers of this
fraternity want to prove you with a growing and maturing experience that
will go with you for the rest of your life.
