Graduate Admissions Process and Deadlines

We accept new students only in the fall semester. All the documents
required for fall graduate admission must be received by the Philosophy
Department by the previous February 1.
This means that all documentation required by the Office of Graduate
Admissions and Records should be sent to that office well before February 1, to allow them time to forward the
appropriate documents to our department. February 1 is also the deadline for our
department to receive applications for assistantships. Applicants are informed of admission and financial aid decisions by early March and have until April 15 to inform the department of their decision regarding aid.
Prerequisites for graduate studies are: ancient philosophy, 17th and 18th
century philosophy, ethics, and symbolic logic. You may be allowed to complete
the prerequisites by taking courses at the undergraduate level after admission
to the Graduate School.
