Specializing in Business Ethics
Business ethics draws from traditional philosophical fields such as ethics, social and political philosophy, the philosophy of law, and the philosophy of economics -- as well as from areas in the social sciences such as management, economics, and political science -- in order to assess the purposes of business enterprises; to evaluate specific business practices; and to provide ethical guidance for people in business.
Business ethics includes areas such as the ethics of global capitalism; the power of multinational corporations; business and the environment; employee rights; marketing ethics; the business of health care; finance and accounting ethics; corporate governance; business in cyberspace; ethical business cultures; ethical leadership; and the proper relationship between business interests and public policy.
At Tennessee, students have the opportunity to work on topics in each of these areas of business ethics.
