General Approach
|
The general approach is to
have students research various careers in relation to school subjects on the
world wide web. Then the students will participate in a race to reproduce
careers related to a specific subject.
|
|

Activity Steps
|
- Direct students to access the BLS Career Information
page.
- Instruct each student to research several careers,
each in a different subject area.
- Students should answer the following questions
about each career researched:
Which school subject is this career related to?
What are the educational requirements for this
career?
What is the salary for this career?
Are there any special skills required?
Are there any other related careers?
- Once the students finish searching, divide the
class into two teams.
- Give the teams one roll of toilet paper and one
marker.
- The teams will have approximately five minutes to
list as many careers as possible related to a given school subject.
- Students will write one career per square of toilet
paper.
- Once the time is up, the teams will unroll their
lists. The team with the longest list wins!
- The counselor should discuss some of the careers
listed.
- Repeat the race giving a different school subject.
