Learning Expectations

This activity will help students acquire competencies which relate to the following standards:
4. Career awareness and employment readiness skills
The student will: 
4.4  Explore and relate personal interests and hobbies to career options

General Approach

The general approach is that students will use the computer to access a web site that will lead them through steps to begin to identify their interests and related career options.

Activity Steps

Explain that students will be working independently at the computer to access career information.

Print and distribute the Career Center worksheet .

Assign students specific computer times to complete the assignment.

When all the students have found their Holland type and explored some careers which would fit that type, they will share information with the class about the career they found most interesting. 


Time Required
This activity may require 45 minutes or more, depending on the student's facility with the computer.  If the student has internet access at home, this activity may be assigned as homework, which would allow the student to spend more time exploring the site.
