Learning Expectations

This activity will help students acquire competencies which relate to the following standards:

4.  Career awareness and employment readiness skills

The student will:

4.2 Access, interpret, and evaluate career information using technology and other resources
4.3 Make decisions, set goals, and develop plans for the future
4.9 Apply job readiness skills (e.g., writing letters of application, preparing resumes, and interviewing)



General Approach

The general approach is that students will use the internet to access information regarding the admissions procedure for art, music, or drama colleges. 


Activity Steps

Explain that students will be working independently at the computer to access information about searching for a drama, art, or music college. 

Distribute the activity worksheet .

Assign students specific computer times to complete the assignment, or you may assign this to be done outside of class. 

After the students have completed their computer research, have a class discussion to share the information about choosing and applying to an art, music, or drama school. 


Time Required

This activity may require up to an hour and a half of computer time, and 30-45 minutes of class discussion time.  The computer research may be assigned to be done outside of class time, with the group discussion held during a class period.
