This activity will help students acquire competencies which relate to the following standards:

General
Approach
Students will be given worksheets which will involve matching people to careers.  The activity will be used to identify stereotyping in career fields. 

Activity Steps
*   If necessary, pens, pencils, etc. will be handed out to students.
*  The worksheets will be distributed 
*  The teacher will explain that the students are to look at the pictures of the people and  to match them to what they believe is the appropriate job.
*  Tell the students they will have ten to fifteen minutes to complete the worksheet.
*  When the students finish, the teacher will go over the worksheet and tell the students who actually does what job.
*  This will lead to a brief discussion of job stereotypes.

Time Required
This activity will require roughly thirty to forty-five minutes.

*  1 worksheet per student (see below)

Indicators
After completing the activity, children should be able to discuss stereotypes while demonstrating an understanding of how stereotypes can limit career decisions.
