The general approach is that students will color different community helpers that will be followed by a counselor led discussion on safety. |
|
|
Lead students through a discussion: There are many people in our community who are helpers. Some help us when we are scared. Some help us when we are sick. Some help us when we are hurt. Some help us when we are sad. Let's talk about each of the pictures we have colored. Use the following "leads" and wait for their response:
The counselor can talk about many other safety situations. There can be more than one answer. Emphasize personal safety and that it is okay to seek help from our community helpers. The counselor will discuss how following rules ensures safety of self and others. |

This activity may require two 30-40 minute sessions. The first session can be used for coloring pictures and the second session can be used for discussion if needed. |
