This activity will help students acquire competencies which relate to the following standard: 
4.0 Career Awareness and Employment Readiness Skills
The student will:
4.2 assess, interpret, and evaluate career information using technology and other resources.

General Approach
This activity will help high school students to recognize a plethora of available career options available to them.   It will also provide them with the opportunity to probe their personality types and match it up with varying occupational roles.  In addition this activity will give students a chance to utilize the world wide web, learn how to construct a resume and present their findings to their peers.

Activity Steps
    1.  Each student should have a computer.

    2.  From the computer they should access the internet site www.myfuture.com.

    3.  Students should review and discuss the various aspects of the site. 

    4.  Students will complete the online Work Interest Quiz.

    5.  Students will then analyze the results and research some of occupational choices generated by the quiz.

    6.  Student will complete the online Keirsey Temperament Sorter II.

    7.  Students will analyze and discuss the test results.

    8.  Students will complete the online Resume Builder.

    9.  Students will complete and turn in a resume and an essay summarizing what they learned.
     


Time Required
This activity may require two 45-60 minute sessions.   The first can be devoted to using the online tools and completing the online tasks.  The second can be utilized for class discussion and resume and paper completion.
