Today we will be talking about study skills.  Who wants to raise their hand and tell me what they think a study skill is?   (Allow students to raise their hands and answer.  Write answers on the board)  Good!! Now what a study skill is, is something that helps you to do better on your work in school, your homework, and on tests!! We are going to learn about five different study skills, but there are a lot more than five that are important.  The skills we will talk about today are LISTENING, FOCUS, ORGANIZATION, REVIEWING, AND BEING PREPARED.  Now I am going to choose someone who is sitting up straight , has their voice turned off and is being a good listener to help me with our lesson.  (Choose a student who is showing a good example of all these things and have them come to the front of the room.)
Now, I want _______ to reach into this bag and pick out one of these sheets of paper.  I will help you read it if you have trouble.  (Read aloud the situation)
Now, _________ is going to pretend to be in this situation.  Raise your hand if __________is showing a good example of this situation.
