General Approach |
The general approach is that the students will complete an activity on study skills which will be followed by a counselor led discussion. |
Activity Steps |
1. Print out study
skills worksheet.
2. Cut and laminate each study skill situation. 3. Place cut out study skills in a bag or basket the student can draw out of. 4. Give specific instructions to the students about the lesson: Today we will be talking about study skills. Who wants to raise their hand and tell me what they think a study skill is? (Allow students to raise their hands and answer. Write answers on the board) Good!! Now what a study skill is, is something that helps you to do better on your work in school, your homework, and on tests!! We are going to learn about five different study skills, but there are a lot more than five that are important. The skills we will talk about today are LISTENING, FOCUS, ORGANIZATION, REVIEWING, AND BEING PREPARED. Now I am going to choose someone who is sitting up straight , has their voice turned off and is being a good listener to help me with our lesson. (Choose a student who is showing a good example of all these things and have them come to the front of the room.) |
