General Approach |
The student will review a web site outlining four types of resumes and complete a worksheet using the information to answer questions on a worksheet. |
Activity Steps |
Direct students to connect to http://jobstar.org/tools/resume/res-what.htm
.
Distribute worksheets and have students respond to the items, using information presented at the Web site. When students have completed the worksheet, go over it in the large group. Have samples (available at the site) ready to look at with the students, pointing out distinguishing characteristics of each. |
Time Required |
Twenty to twenty-five minutes to complete the worksheet; 20 minutes to discuss it and look at sample resumes. |

Students may work alone or in pairs at computers.

Performance Indicators |
As a follow-up activity, students can be assigned to create resumes for individuals created by the teacher or they can create a resume for themselves, selecting the appropriate style and supplying appropriate information. |
