General Approach |
The general approach is that students will volunteer at a local elementary school and keep a daily journal. Students must then write a persuasive paper encouraging volunteerism and present a bulletin board display depicting their experience. |
Activity Steps |
1. Instruct students to access the Chalkboard.
2. Students must use this site to help them select a method in which they plan to volunteer at a local elementary school. 3. Students contact local elementary schools to gain permission and set up volunteer hours. 4. Students should inform the counselor of the elementary school where they will be volunteering, the hours, and the manner in which he or she will be volunteering. 5. While volunteering, students are to keep a daily journal. 6. At the end of the experience, students will write a persuasive paper addressing the need for volunteers. 7. Students will also make a display depicting their volunteer experience to present to their class. |
Time Required |
The time required is at the discretion of the counselor. This activity will at least require one month. |
