Educational Opportunities in the U.S. Military

 This activity will help students acquire competencies which relate to the following standard: 
5.0 Career Information and Career Goals
The student will:
5.3 apply technology and other research skills to locate information about job and post secondary education.

General Approach		 The general approach is that students will use WWW sites to explore a variety of educational opportunities available through the U.S. military.

Activity Steps

 Explain to students that they will be exploring educational opportunities available through the U.S. military.  Each student is to use the link Educational Opportunities in the Military- Internet Assignment to do the following: 
    • choose one link from each of the three categories below, 
    • print and read the information found at each site chosen, 
    • and be prepared to discuss findings in a follow-up lesson.

Time Required

 This activity will take approximately 30 minutes of computer time and a follow-up lesson for discussion. 

(Remind students to print one set of information from each category to share in a follow-up lesson before doing extensive exploration within a category.  The idea is for students to begin to see the broad range of educational opportunities available in the military regardless of the level of education each intends to pursue.)
