The student will:

7.7  Recognize changing roles within the family

General Approach
The general approach is that the students participate in a partnered activity which will  address how our weaknesses can also be strengths and our differences are what makes us unique.

Activity Steps
1.  Have students individually write down their greatest weakness, something that makes them different from their classmates, and one goal they have in life.

2.  Ask students to find a partner they feel comfortable in sharing what they have written.

3.  Ask students to exchange papers.

4.  Ask the students to write on their partner's paper how their weakness could be used as a strength, five ways their difference makes them special, and how these two things can be utilized to help them reach their goal.

5.  Ask students to give the papers back to their partner and explain what they have written and why.

6.  Let any students who feel comfortable doing so, share their statements and feedback with the class.

7.  Lead a class discussion about how family roles are changing.  Ask students to share a time when they felt left out due to differences in their appearance, home life, relationship style, etc...

8.  Compile a class list of how they personally can be more sensitive in their interactions with others, and more open to differences.
