The Brainstorm

This activity will help students acquire competencies which relate to the following standards:

3.3 Recognize that learning is a lifelong process

General Approach
The general approach is that students will interact within a group environment to brainstorm learning activities on different stages of life.

Activity Steps
  1. Group students into groups of four. 
  2. Give each student a worksheet. 
  3. Instruct each group to brainstorm at least three activities per age group as identified on the worksheet. 
  4. Notify the students that they will have about fifteen minutes to complete the worksheet. 
  5. Gather students into a large group and discuss what each group has discovered. 
Lead the group in a discussion:

What kinds of activities did your group identify for the first stage?  How do you think people learn how to do those activities?


Time Required
This activity can be accomplished in one thirty minute session: fifteen minutes to brainstorm and fifteen minutes to discuss.
