The adidas Partners in Sports program is a cooperative venture involving adidas America and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville's professional preparation program in Sport Management. Partners in Sports encourages the development of leaders for the growing sports industry throughout the world and attempts to elevate the status of the Sport Management program at UT. Partners in Sports particularly focuses on the encouragement of "real world" experiences and professional development of students.

Financial support is used solely to benefit students in the Sport Management program. The largest project completed to date has been the Partners in Sports Resource Center which was officially opened on December 1, 1999. Details about the Center can be found at the Resource Center link to this site. Partners in Sports Scholarships were awarded for the first time in 2000 and the number and amount of the awards will increase in the years to come. Students have been provided travel support to attend professional meetings and funds have been provided to bring guests to campus. The bottom line is that all funds will be used to better prepare students at the University of Tennessee to compete in the sports job market upon graduation.

Current students will support the program by enrolling as Student Partners and becoming active with a variety of activities designed to help their professional development. Recent activities have included selling concessions and game day programs at UT football games, assisting with the NCAA Regional Basketball tournament, assisting with the PGA Tour Knoxville Open, and daily operation of the Resource Center. By becoming student members of Partners in Sports, students gain access to a number of resources and opportunities, including:

• Resume building and networking
• Participation in professional seminars,
meeting and conferences
• Scholarship opportunities
• Resources such as job listings,
resume preparation software and computers
• The opportunity to work with UT sports professionals

Graduates of the program are being encouraged to support the program by making a commitment to provide financial support for the development of an endowment fund to provide annual scholarships to the most deserving students in the program at Tennessee.

Organizations that are directly involved with Tennessee students or who are supportive of the professional development of Tennessee students have the opportunity to become involved as Corporate Partners. Corporate Partners provide assistance through cash or in-kind donations.

Several former Sport Management students are now competing at the professional level and have pledged their support to Partners in Sports.
