Tamika Catchings and Tim Mack
Win Gold in Olympic Games

August 30, 2004 -- Tamika Catchings, a star forward for the WNBA's Indiana Fever, and Tim Mack, the world's best pole vaulter, both won gold medals in this summer's Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

Catchings is a two-time WNBA All-Star and All-WNBA player for the Fever. The former Lady Vol standout leads her team in scoring, netting 17.5 points per game thus far this season. She was a key member of the United States' women's basketball team in Athens. Catchings graduated from UT with a bachelor's degree in sport management in 2000.

Mack entered the Olympics fresh off an impressive performance at the United States Track and Field Trials and continued that dominance by bringing home the gold from Athens. Mack earned his bachelor's degree in sport management at UT in 1996 and his master's degree in 1998.

Partners in Sports congratulates these two world-class athletes on a job well done in Athens!
