Team UT |
Feb. 10, 2007 -- Super Bowl XLII provided a once in a lifetime learning experience for eight students and a professor from UT. One undergraduate and five graduate sport management students joined Dr. Fritz G. Polite in Scottsdale Arizona to learn how a large-scale sporting event is prepared, planned and carried out. Team UT is rounded out by two dual Sport Management/MBA students, three students from the College of Communication and Information, and one from Tennessee's MBA program.
Justin Shaw, Zach Franz, Chanel Lattimer, Neil Bishop, Fraser Boyd, and Kevin McMahon comprised the sport management students who made the trip to Arizona. Team UT members were selected following an extensive application process and applied their skills to gain experience and knowledge in one of the largest sporting events in the world.
Team UT worked a variety of events during their six days in Arizona. Nearly every day they worked the interactive NFL Experience located right beside the University of Phoenix Stadium where the big game was played. The NFL Experience is a massive interactive area with an amusement park feel that allows fans to participate in different football drills, get autographs from players, and shop for one of a kind super bowl memorabilia.
The team also worked at "Super Bowl Saturday Night" a concert free to the public the night before the game. At Super Bowl Saturday night team members volunteered their time in information tents, hospitality tents, and helping in the V.I.P. area. Team UT also attended and was filmed in the front row of a taping of the NFL Network's flagship show, NFL All Access.
Team UT would like to thank the College of Business Administration (MBA Program), College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, College of Communication and Information, adidas Partners in Sports, and the University of Tennessee Athletics.
