What is the most important piece of advice you would give to new students?

  • Put yourself out there! You don’t necessarily have to get involved in a student organization. Finding a place where you feel comfortable and have people that you can talk to will make a world of difference and can help you feel at home here at the university.

What is your favorite place on campus?

  • I actually have two favorite spots on campus! My first is the walk up to Ayres. I know this isn’t really a place, but when I’m on my way to Ayres and am on “The Hill” I feel a sense of nostalgia, knowing that so many great people have been where I am. My second place is Neyland Stadium on game days. Seeing the sea of orange just makes me happy to be a Volunteer. Go Vols!!!

What surprised you most about coming to college?

  • What surprised me the most is how quick and easy it is to meet friends. I came from a really small town (UT is seven times larger!) and all I heard was how hard it would be to get to know people. For me, this task wasn't difficult at all. Getting involved with Ignite really did help me with getting to know a lot of great people here on campus during my transition to college.
