What is the most important piece of advice you would give new students?
- As cliché as it may sound, getting involved in campus life and in a variety of activities is an important aspect to having the true college experience. Whether you want to be a part of the Student Government Association or play an intramural sport, getting involved provides you with the opportunity to meet new people and have new experiences.
How did you decide on your major?
- I always knew that I wanted to become an elementary school teacher. However, the University of Tennessee does not offer an education major. UT’s education program is built for students to receive an undergraduate degree from the College of Arts and Sciences, and fulfill minor requirements for education. I decided to major in psychology because I took it in high school and loved it. I have always been curious about how the mind works and how it affects people on an everyday basis.
What is your favorite place on campus?
- I have to say my favorite place on campus has to be the Pedestrian Walkway. It provides a great view of campus and the distant Smokey Mountains. When walking along the Walkway to class or elsewhere, I always take in my surroundings and remember how much I love the University of Tennessee.
