Transfer Student Orientation FAQ

Who is a transfer student?

Transfer students are students who enter The University of Tennessee with at least 30 hours of college credit and are not classified as an Adult Student.  [top]

When will I receive Transfer Student Orientation information?

All transfer students entering The University of Tennessee in Fall 2010 will be mailed information in January, and continuing on a rolling basis.  [top]

When will the online Transfer Student Orientation registration system open?

Transfer students entering The University of Tennessee in Fall 2010 will be able to register for Orientation beginning February 1, 2010.  [top]

What are the dates for Transfer Student Orientation?

There are four one-day sessions in 2010. They will be held on April 16 (F), May 21 (F), June 18 (F) and July 12 (M). Transfer Student Orientation is the first opportunity for students new to UT to be advised and register for classes. Students unable to attend Transfer Student Orientation will not be advised until all Orientation is finished on July 16, 2010. Why can't I register for Transfer Student Orientation online?

There could be several reasons:

  1. The session has filled. The Transfer Student Orientation system will only show you the sessions where there is space available. We fill sessions on a first-response basis. You must be registered for a Transfer Student Orientation session in order to attend.
  2. Your College is not advising during that session.  [top]

Do I need to register in order to attend a Transfer Student Orientation session?

Yes, in order to accommodate advising for all students we need to know that you are planning to attend a Transfer Student Orientation session. DO NOT come to Transfer Student Orientation if you have not registered, we may have to turn you away. Students who have not pre-registered will have to pay a $10 processing fee. If you would like to attend and the system is closed, please call Student Orientation & Leadership Development at 865-974-2435 to see if there is still space available.  [top]

Can I change to another session?
Yes, if there is space still available. You can log back into the Orientation registration system and change session dates. Please note that there is a $10 processing fee to change session dates, so please plan accordingly.  [top]

Can you take my credit card information and register for me?

Unfortunately we are unable to take credit card requests over the phone.  [top]

What if I need to cancel and get a refund?

Refunds will be made ONLY if Student Orientation & Leadership Development is notified IN WRITING at least 10 working days prior to the confirmed program date. Please note that a $10 processing fee will be subtracted from your total refund.  [top]
