Mission

In alliance with the mission of the University of Tennessee, Minority Student Affairs supports minority students by administering programs and services that holistically address the cultural, educational, and civic growth, thus contributing to their academic success, and enhancing the institutional efforts in retaining and graduating minority students for a diverse and complex world.

Goals


  1. Provide personal and professional enrichment opportunities for students with an emphasis on minority students.
  2. Provide academic support services that contribute to improved retention rates of minority students.
  3. Serve as a resource for minority students and information related to minority students.
  4. Promote cultural diversity through outreach efforts to campus, local, regional, and national communities.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with other departments to represent the concerns and issues of minority students.
