Contact your Tennessee House and Senate representatives
I have called a few reps and here is what I discovered. They don't really care if you are in their district, so you can call any of them if you wish. I often spoke directly with the representative. The best days to call are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, as they are only required to be in the office then. Odd # Senators are up for reelection November 7th, 2006, as well as the House.
Here is what to say. Ask them, "Do you support the TN Medical Marijuana Act?" and have the bill number ready. Then ask them if they support the Regulation and Control (Distribution) of Marijuana. We are documenting their responses as Very Against, Against, Supportive, and Very Supportive for the two issues. Our main focus should be on the Senate General Welfare, Health and Human Resources Committee. This committee killed the bill. As a side note, I do not believe the bills will be reintroduced until July 2006.
I would keep it that simple. If they believe Marinol to be an adequate substitute, then you should let them know that there is no synthetic Cannabidiol, which lessens epilepsies, aids Huntington's Disease, and TS. Don't say you are with NORMLUTK just yet. We don't need enemies and I want to give the Very Against representatives an interview myself without their defenses up.
