Exporting Workshop a Success

A Workshop on Exporting Tennessee Wood Products was held September 6 in Nashville. Representatives from industry, government and academia took part in the one-day event that featured useful information geared to people interested in learning more about the growing export market for wood products.

The Workshop was organized by the University of Tennessee and was supported by the Tennessee Forestry Association, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, the USDA Forest Service and the Buffalo-Duck River RC&DC.

The main messages that came across at the workshop included:

•  The export market is growing. Ignore it at your peril!

•  The export market is competitive and demanding, especially in terms of price.

•  Exporting involves special regulations and paperwork but it is possible for small to medium-suze businesses to participate.
