Shakisha Davis, M.Ed.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Shakisha Davis, and I am the new Education Specialist for the Math & Science Center. I am thrilled to be working with Upward Bound and look forward to the years to come. Just to acquaint you, with who I am, let me disclose some of my background information.

I received a Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia. While attending, I had the opportunity to work in numerous settings. One of the most rewarding was as an advisor in the UGA Young Scholars Program. For two years, I counseled and advised minority high school students on issues such as professional etiquette, group cohesion through teamwork, social problems, and more. In addition, I founded, D. I. V. I. N. E. (Disciples Incorporating Values In Nubian Elegance), an organization that has prepared students for the many dilemmas adolescents face.

I also obtained a Master of Education with a concentration in School Counseling from Columbus State University. For the past two years, I have gained experience in both a community and school setting. I am currently enrolled as a doctoral student in Counselor Education at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

I am a proud mother of a 4-month old baby girl, Sereniti Hayden. She is the joy of my life! Outside of being a mother, I love going to the movies, fishing, shopping, and traveling (especially to my hometown of South Carolina). All in all, I am a personable 26 year old, who loves life and enjoys being herself!!!
