| Where am I from and what
am I doing here?
I was born and raised in Kenya, that's where
I am from. I am still a Kenyan citizen. After
my high school education, I came to the United
States for my undergraduate education at Concordia
college - Moorhead. I earned my B.A (science)
in May 2003 with a Major in Physics and a
Minor in Mathematics & Chemistry. Immediately
after graduating, I joined the University
of North Dakota for my Masters in Condensed
Matter Physics. In July 2005, two weeks after
completing my M.S, degree, I joined the Physics
department at the University
of Tennessee - Knoxville. This is where
I am currently working towards a PhD in physics.
You can find out more about my research work
here.
Why all the studying?
Because I am a curious cat and I enjoy research
in physics. The studying is a gateway to research,
the research is for finding a piece of the
puzzle that will one day help us put together
the whole puzzle - probably not in my life
time but perhaps in some future generation.
What do I really want in life?
Take my bike out and ride for days in the
mountains then come back and build something
in the lab do a few experiments with the new
'toy' and then take another vacation and go
hiking in the mountains. Perhaps one day make
a new discovery or participate in one that
will propel humankind to a new age in technology.
That would be the perfect life.
