MICROECONOMETRICS (Econ 682)
Department of
Economics,
Spring 2007
The purpose of this course is to
cover important topics and techniques that have been developed in Applied
Microeconometrics. The special focus of the course is the following topics:
panel data, limited dependent variable (LDV) models and models with
selectivity. Such models are widely used in labor, health, industrial
organization, environmental and transportation economics, and also elsewhere in
social sciences. There is considerable potential for using these in other
areas, e.g. finance, where they are less frequently used. In addition to
emphasis on the statistical inference we will also pay attention to the
application of these models. It is hoped that throughout this course students
will not only have a thorough knowledge of the up-to-date developments in these
models but also develop some important skills in analyzing and applying them to
the empirical work.
