The Tempest:Ý An Exercise in
Film
Ý Take
a look at a film version of The Tempest from either our library
collection or from your
local video store.
You are free to be creative with what you consider to be a version of the
play, as long
you are prepared to
justify it. After you have seen the film, write up a one-page response
that answers the following questions.
-
Was it faithful to the
Shakespearian play? Why or why not?
-
What parts of the story
did it emphasize?
-
What was its most effective
moment and why?
As you are writing up
your response, keep in mind that film and stage theater are necessarily
different
media. You should
mention these differences when you think they are important. Your one page
response
is due in class on
October 8.
