UT German Club

THE UT GERMAN CLUB has again been active this year. The German Club organized film screenings, informal meetings and many other events. The current president of the German Club, Randi Thomas, and the past president of the German Club, Erin Read invest a lot of time and energy in order to ensure that the German Club offers a very attractive program for all students who are interested in German culture. One of the highlights for the Fall 2005 semester was the "German Culture Night" on November 22 at the International House. The lead-organizer for this event was Erin Read (M.A. candidate, German), and about 30 volunteers contributed to make this German Culture Night a very enjoyable event.

More than 70 people attended the event, enjoyed German cuisine and listened to various student presentations that were both, entertaining and informative. The German Club made about $130 in ticket sales, which will be used to give scholarships to students to attend the German Immersion Weekend at Buffalo Mountain Camp (Feb. 17-19, 2006).
